New Jersey Lawyers’ Path Back to Reinstatement

May 28, 2025-

Disbarred Lawyers Could Soon Be Practicing Again

“Jeralyn Lawrence, who was New Jersey State Bar Association president in 2022 and 2023, played a key role in the court’s revision of rules governing disbarment. She is not surprised that only two out of nine disbarred lawyers passed. ‘It sounds low, but you know, ordinarily, people taking the bar exam are students right out of law school. They’re devoting a lot of time to it, and it’s still a challenge to pass,’ Lawrence said.

‘Time will tell if some of these requirements soften or change. But if it only helps two people per bar exam, thank goodness we’ve helped two people,'”(law.com/njlawjournal).

This is a path back to reinstatement. This is a second chance. This is progress!
