Ashley E. Edwards focuses her practice exclusively on all aspects of matrimonial and family law, including divorce litigation and mediation, post-judgment litigation, custody and parenting time issues, alimony and child support, pre-nuptial agreements, matrimonial settlement agreements, domestic violence, and domestic partnership matters.
Ashley has represented hundreds of divorce and family law clients throughout the State of New Jersey. She has appeared in Somerset, Warren, Hunterdon, Ocean, Monmouth, Middlesex, Morris, Bergen, Essex, Mercer, Sussex, Camden, Union, Atlantic, Burlington, and Passaic counties.
She is a fierce litigator, strongly advocating on behalf of each client in court and during negotiations. Ashley shows compassion for client concerns and individual needs, making herself available while ensuring each client experiences a comfortable and open environment for discussion. Ashley takes pride in her extensive preparation and knowledge of the law, understanding and employing the unique facts of each case to achieve success or her clients. She is a careful listener and thinks outside of the box to achieve positive resolutions to complex family law issues.
Prior to entering private practice, Ashley served as the Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Anthony F. Picheca, Jr., J.S.C., Superior Court of New Jersey, Family Division, Somerset County.
At Rutgers University School of Law, Ashley graduated cum laude, received The Herman J. Finn Legal Ethics Award, and the Dean’s Pro Bono Publico Award, recognizing 100+ hours of pro bono service. She served as a research assistant to Professors Linda Bosniak and Donald Joseph and was recognized for her research contributions within Chapter 7 of The Pennsylvania Ethics Handbook, 4th Edition.
While pursuing her law degree, Ashley provided legal services to victims of Hurricane Sandy through Rutgers’ Alternative Spring Break Initiative and volunteered with Volunteer Lawyers for Justice and the Wills for Heroes Foundation. She has conducted research and written briefs and memoranda for the Office of the Public Defender in both Camden and Ocean counties.
Ashley has been named selected to New Jersey Super Lawyers Rising Stars for Family Law each year since 2018 and Best Lawyers Ones to Watch since 2021. She serves as an Early Settlement Panelist for both Somerset and Ocean counties, and also serves on the District XIII Fee Arbitration Committee in Somerset County. She has been recognized by South Jersey Legal Services for her dedication to pro bono clients.
