Jeralyn Lawrence was quoted in the New Jersey Law Journal article, , “Judge’s Gripe About Family Court Is Not an Isolated Phenomenon, Lawyers Say”…..
“Jeralyn Lawrence, president-elect of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the head of a family law practice in Watchung, said she did not consider unhappy family division judges a widespread phenomenon.
Lawrence said she felt empathy for Kassel, the Camden judge facing discipline for complaining about his family division assignment. She said the way he expressed his unhappiness with the assignment was ‘far too brazen,’ especially when he told litigants he was not knowledgeable about family law. ‘Did he take it too far? Absolutely he did. That’s not a great look for the judiciary,’ Lawrence said.
‘Can I tell you every judge in family loves being there? I can’t,’ Lawrence said. ‘I can tell you the majority of our family law judges want to be there, and are working hard and putting in more hours than they are being paid for.’
